Hi everyone, these days I really miss Arrested Development and I'm thinking about get back to basics like watch again the 3 seasons and make this blog alive again !

Now I'm here !

Hum...well ok you don't believe right now but you'll see.

But I have to give you an explanation about the reasons of the lack of updates. It's simple :

The news are still the same !

And I was like "okay it's not my priority to work on the blog..."
So I apologize about that and I'm back for real and for good.

And now let's see the latest news :

The first is a news for the website TvGawker and Will Arnett is talking :

Arrested Development movie updates?
We're in the midst of Running Wilde and we're unable to focus on anything else, but it is something we plan on doing. I can't really speak to Mitch's timetable but I would suspect that it's going to be sooner rather than later now, I will say that.

David Cross said in an interview that he knows the storyline and it's "awesome."
Yeah there's some really funny stuff, some really funny ideas being kicked around. It's Mitch's call on how anything goes.

Can you give us a hint? A taste? Something?
I really can't, it would be far too premature. But if it goes in the direction Mitch is suggesting, it'll be super hilarious.

It seems that the AD's movie is still alive ! You want another proof ? Let see a declaration of Mitch Hurwitz from AVClub :

AVC: So what is the status of the film? It’s the inescapable question.

MH: It is my absolute next priority. I’ve said we’re about halfway through it, but I’m including a lot of the stories as part of that half. It’s the next thing I do as soon as I get a breath from [Running Wilde]. If it gets picked up for a back nine, I’ll have people in place to do this and I can go finish that. It is my biggest creative priority. It’s very frustrating I haven’t had time to do it. I’ve been having to do other things, but it’s time and money. It’s part of, you know, the thing I’ve built for myself here. This house of cards. I have to say, people think I’m more successful than I am, and I appreciate that. I think. I don’t know if I care I, guess. But I’m a working guy. I’m not joking, though, if I had Cocoon, all bets would be off.

That's all about waiting and waiting for some news but nothing wants to come...so that's why I kept for few weeks this interview of Mitchell Hurwitz during the Austin Film Festival.
Here we go !

“A Conversation with Mitchell Hurwitz” Saturday in the Stephen F. Austin Hotel Ballroom really was a conversation. Moderator Paul Feig shifted quickly from interviewing the winner of the 2009 Austin Film Festival’s Outstanding Television Writer award to just shooting the breeze with him.

Feig, the creator of “Freaks and Geeks,” has become a sought-after director — kind of to TV what Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl brings to other bands as a drummer for hire. He’s directed episodes of “Mad Men,” “The Office” and “30 Rock” in addition to ” “Arrested Development.”

Hurwitz, best known for the shaky, hand-held camera antics of the Bluth family, began his television career on a program called “Nurses.”

Here are some highlights of their conversation:

On writing: Hurwitz said that he often likes to begin writing with constructs, such as ego, superego and id. When he was starting out and writing spec scripts, he said, he would ask himself questions, such as “Okay, how many people are on Cheers? How do they connect with each other?” Such devices, he says, become invisible to the audience but can help spark the creative process. In “Arrested Development,” he originally began basing his characters on the construct “matriarch, patriarch, craftsman and clown.” Originally envisioned as the series’ four main characters, Lindsay, Michael, Buster and Gob filled those roles.

“As a creative person,” Hurwitz said, “the hardest thing is a first draft. It destroys your image that you can write. It doesn’t come out of the pen correctly. Then we go the stage and the first run-through, and I’m devastated. Then to post-production, where I think, ‘I’m a fraud. It doesn’t work.’ Hard work is so much more a part of this than talent is. The harder you work the more chance you have of being talented. If you struggle with it, that’s okay. That’s part of it.”

“The only people who love to write are bad writers,” Feig added.

Hurwitz said the old aphorism, “Write what you know,” is a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. “Even if you write science fiction,” he said, “you’re going to be writing what you know.”

On inspiration: Hurwitz says his favorite quote is this gem, from philosopher Isaiah Berlin: “Life is choice, and choice is loss.” Each time you make a choice, you let go of all of the other possibilities available. But, ” If you do make a choice and commit,” Hurwitz said, “you will find your creative direction.”

On Ron Howard: The impetus behing “Arrested Development” was highly praised by Hurwitz, who said, “He made a schizo mathematician into a big, wide-release movie. He’s kind of amazing that way.” It was Howard who approached Hurwitz about creating a cinema verite, documentary-style show. They dialed the documentary idea back after learning about the original, British version of “The Office,” which had begun airing as they created “Arrested.” Howard encouraged Hurwitz to take risks which Hurwitz, coming from a background of conventional (but good) sitcoms such as “The Golden Girls” was happy to do.

On the executives: “There are no longer executives that come from Broadway or from entertainment backgrounds,” Hurwitz said. “They all come from accounting,” Feig added. Both said that was okay, there was definitely a need and a place for that.

On “Arrested Development”: “We knew we weren’t going to be a financial success; we knew we weren’t going to be a ratings success,” Hurwitz said. So they just made the best show they could make.

On the show’s ground-breaking camera style: As a director, Feig claims the method allows for a funnier product. It enables him to ask actors such as Steve Carrell of “The Office” to change things up and approach scenes several different ways, which is difficult and costly to do with conventional camera set-ups. “Multiple hand-held cameras make it possible to catch improvised takes from many angles,” Feig said. ” ‘Arrested’ got people used to the handheld camera quick cuts; I think it’s the best way to shoot TV. You can run, you can fly. It’s great for actors — you can go again and go again.” Intricate camera set-ups have their place, he said, but “there are not many comedies about camera set-ups and shots.”

On the “Arrested Development” movie: “I’m tempted to change the style for the film, but Ron Howard wants it to stay the same,” Hurwitz claimed. “It will have just a little more polish.”

This Is It !
Now we have the official declaration of Mitchell Hurwitz about the movie, he's directing it.
Right now the AD Movie is officially launched, so I'm going to the hospital bar to celebrate it...

At this point the Arrested Development bit has been utterly destroyed from the sheer volume of people constantly chomping at it, hoping they'll sink their teeth into some fresh meat and sate their hunger for news. Well today, my friends, you'll get a nice hard confirmation of some directorial rumors and a sneak peek about what you might see in the film , straight from series writer Mitch Hurwitz.


The Austin Film Festival recently took place and thanks to the gents over at Austin 360 they've provided in-depth detail about the “Art of Storytelling” panel at which Hurwitz and series executive producer and narrator Ron Howard spoke.


Confirming everyone's suspicions, Hurwitz dropped the bomb that he is in fact hammering out a script for the film right now, and when the time comes he'll be the one in the director's chair. PHEW! Arrested Development faithful such as myself have been a little bit worried that the project would go to someone else with not as much stake in the franchise, but thankfully it will be in good hands and the intertubes can breathe a sigh of relief.


He went on to tell us to expect a heavy jail presence in the film, and that he will include a reference to TARP money as a bit of a jab of the film industry for taking so long to make films that are socially relevant. Who will be in prison, we don't know, but expect it not to be George Sr.


It's an incredibly small bit of news, but knowing that Hurwitz knows where he's going instills quite a lot of hope. We'll be keeping a sharp eye open for anything else to come out of the A.D. camp in the coming months.

Well, well, well...This is it ! Mitchell Hurwitz and Jim Vallely are working on the Arrested Development script !
Isn't that great ?! The information was revealed by the THR website :

"Arrested Development" creator Mitchell Hurwitz and his co-executive producer James Vallely are working on a screenplay for the long-debated feature version of their short-lived Fox series. Even as they prep a new Fox comedy series with "Arrested" star Will Arnett, the writers are spinning more bizarre encounters for the eccentric, spoiled Bluth clan for possible feature production in the spring.


Imagine, which produced the TV show, and Fox Searchlight are producing the film.


Hurwitz had said that he wouldn't start writing a film unless all the main actors, including Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, David Cross, Arnett, Alia Shawkat, Portia de Rossi and Jeffrey Tambor, were committed. Earlier in the year, speculation circulated about which wanted to return as the show's hyper-invested fans pushed from the sidelines and the actors themselves spurred excitement.

There's a long time since I've wrote an article on the blog, I was very busy this month but everyday day I'm looking for some real news.

So what can we say about the Arrested Development Movie right now ? Not more than the last month but our great Jason Bateman continues to talk about it.

The 24th September he was saying :

It’s still being written and my guess is that is will be shot some time next year. I have a feeling that Mitch [Hurwitz] is halfway done writing it. We’ll probably shoot it middle of next year and then for however long things take to get cut and marketed, so maybe the first part of 2011 I would imagine. That’s just a guess.

Another news, but not about Arrested, Ron Howard have a new comedy TV project !

Now, Ron Howard is back with a new idea for another comedy series at Fox -- a workplace comedy set at an Internal Revenue Service district office.

Fox has committed to a pilot, grabbing the project pre-emptively before it could be pitched to other networks.

It will be written by Brent Forrester, writer-director on another workplace comedy, NBC's "The Office." Forrester and Howard are executive producing with Howard's partners at Imagine TV, Brian Grazer and David Nevins.

"It's an idea Ron had toyed with for many years as a feature," Nevins said. "Eventually, Brian and I convinced him it would be better as a TV show."

The three met with several writers until hitting it off with Forrester.

"The one thing that unites all Americans is their suspicion and hatred for the IRS," Forrester said. "That makes the characters on the show underdogs, because outside the office everyone is suspicious of them."

The IRS agent at the center "is trying hard to believe that his job is good and noble and provides a very important, vital service," Forrester said. "It's a classic workplace show; the model for it is 'Taxi,'" Forrester said.

"In essence, it's a group of eclectic characters who have come to the job from different paths and who represent different points of view and different voices."

There will be procedural elements to the show, too.

"'L.A. Law' had lawsuits, and 'CSI' has murders; this show has audits, tax collection and special ops, with the FBI against organized crime and drug dealers," Forrester said.

Arrested Development : The Small Effort !

Now we know that the Arrested Development will come out for sure, Jason Bateman gaves us some informations about the movie like he's always did in IGN :

Jason Bateman has revealed that the proposed Arrested Development film will be a "small effort".

The 40-year-old actor, who played Michael Bluth on the cancelled Fox series, recently admitted that plans for the movie were still in the early stages.

He has now said that the project will be made on a small scale, while a script is more than "halfway" finished.

Bateman told IGN: "We hope that there is enough people out there who would want to see it that [Fox] Searchlight could get its money back from financing it."

He added: "[Series creator Mitchell Hurwitz] is halfway through writing the script now, and once he's done and if he's happy with it, we'll start to schedule it and then shoot it. And then be done."

"It will be a small film. It will be simple. We'll shoot it in probably six weeks. It will get a little release. It is not being done at big Fox, it is being done at Fox Searchlight. It's going to be a small effort."

It was reported earlier that Michael Cera will reprise his George-Michael Bluth character for the Arrested Development film.

It's was hard to imagine the Arrested Development movie project down, it's just impossible. C'mon !

Question: What is the state of “Arrested Development”?

Jason Bateman: The script’s being written and when Mitch is done with it we can go to the scheduling part of it which will probably prove to be a bit challenging given the size of the cast.

And they’re all attached?

Jason: He is asked us not to speak about specifics, but that he’s working on it.

It seems like 5 or 6 months there was a lot of momentum. A lot of people talking about the film. And then it seemed like it sort of got a little bit quiet. Everyone’s a little nervous it’s actually happening. Is it, in fact, actually being written right now?

Jason: Yes.

That’s 100%?

Jason: Yeah. Yeah. That’s never changed. I mean people have guessed and “rumored” and all that other stuff in all areas of the media. I’ve always been a little sort of…I’ve always felt bad that I never had more information to give people when they asked me about it, but I guess people kind of got frustrated by that and they just started kind of making up their own sort of “well, we haven’t heard that much” or “news hasn’t changed so it must be going away”. I don’t know. It sort of took a life of its own on and fatigue started to set in I think about the whole story of it. I mean, there’s really no need to write anything about it at all until he’s done writing it. Once he writes it then, just like any movie, then it becomes something a little bit more real and then you try to figure out scheduling and you try to figure out people’s deals. I mean, it’s got the same life that any other project would have. It has just as much a chance of happening as it does of not happening really.

So what do you think of this great news ?

Arrested Development Movie in a bad way ?

"The C-Word"

I don't really think that the Arrested Development is not gonna happen, I'm very hopefull about it but it's true we have a lack of information, no real news. Just phrases like "It's gonna happen, it's up to Mitch !".
It seems that Mitch Hurwitz it's pretty busy right now, but this project can't be dead. It's the most anticpated movie for 2010 !
So in my own opinion the movie will came out next year, on ZAP2it someone think in a different way :

It's been over a year since buzz about an "Arrested Development" film first began circulating. And when cast members confirmed shortly thereafter that a big screen version of the FOX series was indeed in development, fan excitement was legitimized.

In January, executive producer Mitch Hurwitz even told the press that a distribution deal with Fox Searchlight was more or less in place.

However, when I spoke with Hurwitz one-on-one that month, he also said that the "Arrested" movie was far from actually shooting, since he couldn't come up with a story until he knew exactly which cast members were on board.

Of course, at that time, the lone hold out was the series' break out star Michael Cera (George Michael), so waiting to know whether or not he'd be involved, before starting to write, made sense.

But Cera signed on to do the film in late February.

And it is now August and sources say Hurwitz has not yet begun writing.

"I don't think Mitch is gonna do it," an insider told me. "It seems like he's moving off the idea. So much time has passed."

Of course Hurwitz has been busy with pilot project upon pilot project this year, not to mention FOX's "Sit Down, Shut Up," and his work load doesn't seem to be dwindling, having just announced a new TV venture with "Arrested" alum Will Arnett earlier this week.

So, yeah, don't think this "Arrested" movie thing is happening... though passionate commentary from the diehard "Arrested" fan base could make a difference.

An "Arrested Development" Trio for a new TV show !

One week ago I was talking about a profect of a new TV show created by Mitchell Hurwitz and Will Arnett, this project seems to become real. The contract between Arnett and Fox gives to him all the power to create what he wants.
So it's not a surprise if he works with Mitch Hurwitz and Jim Vallely for this untitled serie.

The Emmy-winning series' creator/executive producer, Mitch Hurwitz, co-star Will Arnett and co-executive producer Jim Vallely have teamed for another single-camera Fox comedy. It stars Arnett as a rich Beverly Hills jackass who falls in love with a charitable tree-hugging woman who can't stand his lifestyle or values.

The project, which has received a script commitment, is being written by Hurwitz, Arnett and Vallely. The comedy is the first project to come out of the development pact that Arnett inked with Fox in October. Arnett recently lent his voice to "Sit Down, Shut Up," Hurwitz's animated comedy for Fox.

Hurwitz and Vallely won two 2005 Emmys for writing the "Righteous Brothers" episode of "Development."

Arnett earned Emmy nominations for his role as part-time magician Gob Bluth on "Development" and for his recent recurring role on NBC's "30 Rock." The actor, who co-stars in "G-Force," will next be seen in "When in Rome" and "Jonah Hex."

Will Arnett use the G-Force !

If you like GOB/Will Arnett, on October 14 you will able to watch a new Walt Disney movie called G-Force where Arnett plays a certain Kip Killian.

Synopsis :

A specially trained squad of guinea pigs is dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world.

But more important than this movie, I found on internet an interview of Arnett where he talks about the G-Force movie and his projects.
This interviews confirms what we suspected about his deal with Fox, if you didn't know about the deal you can read this :

Will Arnett is making his way back to FOX thanks to a handsome and somewhat unique development deal.

The former "Arrested Development" star and two-time Emmy nominee has returned to the network and will work on developing a comedy series. That's not all that unusual. The terms of the agreement are, however.

Arnett will have a high degree of creative control over any project, the showbiz trade papers report. He'll have a say in which writers and directors he works with and input on the show's concept. The deal also isn't connected to a particular studio, which will allow Arnett more latitude in choosing his partners.

So what Will Arnett is actually doing ? He's working with Mitch Hurwitz for a new comedy TV show !
That's wath he said on the interview :

Arnett has a slew of other projects in development, none of which involves working with rodents. Two of them reunite him with Mitchell Hurwitz, who created the cult-favorite series "Arrested Development" (2003-2006), on which Arnett starred as George Bluth II, aka "Gob."

"I'm writing a new show for Fox with the creator of 'Arrested Development," the actor said. "We'll also do an 'Arrested Development' movie in the next year or so. Those are the projects that get me up in the morning."

However he also talks a little bit about the Arrested Development movie but there is no big news :

"Arrested Development" fans have never quite accepted the show's cancellation, so they're already eagerly anticipating the movie. The feeling is mutual, Arnett says.

"I'm with the fans in that I'm really looking forward to revisiting these characters," he said. "I will have to beg Mitch for some mercy for George. I'm sure I'll be in some interesting situations in the movie."

So how about some inside dirt? Will the whole original cast be back, including Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi and Jeffrey Tambor? Anything about the plot?

Arnett shakes his head.

"Honestly, I'm not sure who is on board," he said. "I do know that everyone is prepared to do the movie. But I don't hear things officially. That's out of my pay scale."

"Ctrl" Tony Hale !

If you miss Tony Hale you have to watch his new Web series called "Ctrl" on nbc.com where he plays an office nerd named Stuart.

The show is based on a short film named "Ctrl Z" in which Tony Hale also starred.

On the Chicagonow blog we can read an interview where Tony talks about his disire to play Buster again in the movie.

Tony Hale is ready for the "Arrested Development" movie.

"I want to wear Buster's hand again," he told me during a phone interview on Thursday. "I want to wear the hook again."

Hale was on a call with journalists promoting his new Web series at nbc.com, "Ctrl," but I had to ask him about the film version of the cult TV series in which he played Buster Bluth, the socially inept and panic-attack prone youngest Bluth brother whose left hand was bitten off by a seal.

"We all want it to happen," he said of the cast members and the show's creator, Mitchell Hurwitz. "It's just a matter of getting everybody's schedule together. Everybody's kind of doing their own thing."

He said coordinating the schedules of so many cast members--Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, David Cross, Alia Shawkat, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter and Justin Lee--is 'kind of a feat."

"But we're definitely all on board and the script is supposedly in the works," he said. "We all want it to happen, so we'll see--hopefully."

Hale does know that he will be returning to "Chuck" next season, saying that filming for the NBC comedy begins Aug. 6. He plays Emmett Milbarge, who took over the Buy More temporarily and caused all kinds of trouble for Chuck, Big Mike, Morgan, Lester and Jeff.

"I don't really know where the storyline is going, but I know I'm doing the first episode," Hale said. "I don't know what's going to happen to Emmett. He's obviously caused some drama in the Buy More, so we'll see what happens to him."

It's really really great, Jason Bateman gives an interview in the new DETAILS and for the occasion he talks a little bit about the Arrested Development's Movie !

There is no big news but it still good to hear about the movie, so you can read what Jason says and you can watch the video where he also talks about it.

We decamp to the Mexican restaurant around the corner, and Bateman, clad in a hoodie, T-shirt, jeans, and slip-ons, finally looks at ease. When my queso fundido arrives bubbling in a festive ceramic bowl perched above a tea light, he deadpans, "I'm sorry, are we celebrating something?"

"You know, it's funny," says the bartender, sliding Bateman a Diet Coke, "Ice the bounty hunter was in here just last week."

"The guy with the mullet," says Bateman with a signature eyebrow raise.

"No, Ice the bounty hunter? The guy Gob hires to follow you to Mexico in Season 2?"

"Oh, Ice the bounty hunter. I need to watch those fuckin' episodes again." This is at least the eighth time today a stranger has accosted the boyish-looking 40-year-old actor about Arrested Development usually to ask whether rumors of a movie spin-off are true. Had such attention been paid during the series' run on Fox, the show would not have ended as ignominiously as it did, in 2006. But however dramatically the comedy reversed Bateman's fortunes, his recall for its absurd arcana lags behind that of the typical fan.

"We're gonna make the movie," Bateman offers. "Mitch Hurwitz is just starting to write it. It'll be out in a year and a half."

Pretty exciting isn't it ?

The Austin Film Festival (AFF) proudly announces that “Arrested Development” creator Mitchell Hurwitz will accept the 2009 Outstanding Television Writer Award during the Festival’s annual Awards Luncheon on Saturday, October 24th. In addition to claiming the honor, Hurwitz will speak on panels during the Festival’s 16th Annual Screenwriters Conference, October 22-25, 2009.

Hurwitz is a television writer and producer, best known as the creator of the television sitcom, “Arrested Development,” which earned numerous Emmy Awards. One week ago I've decided to ask Fox about the airing of Sit Down, Shut Up. The rumors talked about a summer airing but we've seen nothing in this sense, so yesterday Fox finally replied to my email.
There is my email first :

Arrested Development : Database Project

Hello Arrested Developers,

Since many days I've got an idea and I think it could be interesting for AD fans.

So there is my idea :

Like a lot of AD fans I like to collect videos, images and some other stuff about Arrested Development but it's difficult to find everything on internet. On a website/a blog or a forum we could put all these things we have about AD like interviews, making of, scan of press articles, etc...

The New Jersey Scene ?

There is the update that I've been waiting all night !

corpse_was_a_good_man told us a little bit more about this famous scene. So I let you read the post he left on IMDB :

"So we showed up at the theater. Our job was to be audience members giving a standing ovation behind will arnett delivering a line (that no one could hear)

Mitch was on set the entire time... for most of the 5 hours we were there we did some incedental crowd shots and multiple shots to be composited for audience cloning..

No cameras were allowed, couldn't get much for you guys. I really only witnessed 30 seconds of what will be the final movie.

Anyway, feel free to ask any questions.. (arnett was the only original cast member on set, just to set that straight right now, and i didn't recognize anyone else who was being focused on."

That description of the scene brings me to my first idea, for me it's not a scene shot for the movie but more for a commercial. It's seems to be the most plausible idea...

Rumor : Sit Down Shut Up back in June ?

According to Mitch Hurwitz, Sit Down Shut Up isn't officialy cancelled and the show will be back in June.

But the real question is when ? Fox didn't say a word about this return...

May 19, 2009 - Don't let the fact that you didn't see it on FOX's schedule for next season fool you. Mitch Hurwitz would like viewers to know Sit Down, Shut Up is, in his words, "Not dead!"

Last night I spoke to Arrested Development creator Hurwitz at the FOX Upfront party, where he was in attendance to support Brothers, a new comedy he is executive producing. I mentioned Sit Down, Shut Up to Hurwitz, asking if we had seen the last of the show – the animated series was pulled from the air last week, before airing the fifth and final installment of what was intended to be its spring run.

Said Hurwitz, "No, actually! There is that presumption in the press, because they moved us to 7:00, because of Sweeps month and we weren't getting numbers good enough to stay on [at 8:30]. They moved us to 7:00, but then our content was too racy, so they had to pull us off of 7:00."

However, Hurwitz revealed, "We're coming back in June at 8:30 for the run of them. I'm going to lose all my credibility here, but they're good. They get really funny." Hurwitz was well aware of the expectations the show had going in, which reunited him with three of his Arrested Development stars, Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Henry Winkler, but told me they never set out to make a show that would feel like Arrested, particularly since it was animated.

"The first couple [episodes] got trashed, particularly by the blogs and a lot of people said, 'It's nowhere near as good as Arrested Development ,'" noted Hurwitz, adding with a smile, "It's like, it's not trying to be, you know what I mean? You know what they didn't say about Family Guy? Nobody said, 'This is nowhere near as good as M*A*S*H! Why isn't this any better than Ally McBeal?!'"

"There's some really clever, funny things there and I think it's an acquired taste," Hurwitz said of Sit Down, Shut Up. "I think it's much like Arrested was at the start for a lot of people. But we'll see. If we get any numbers, we can stay in business."

So how many episodes will we see this summer? Hurwitz told me, "We've only aired four of them, so we have eight more."

As for what happens beyond that, Hurwitz remarked, "We've got a shot!", saying it was a funny situation for him these days, because, "I'm still working on them and everyone's writing that the show's cancelled and it's dead. And I'm still rewriting them and mixing them! It's crazy in so many ways."

Some filming in New Jersey ?

It's just a rumor but apparently their will be some filming in New Jersey the 17th june.

So why New Jersey ?
It could happen because in the episode "Key Decisions" George talks about Rahway. This city is in New Jersey.

Soon as we get more informations I will tell you ;)
